Girl, 19, killed in South LA hit-run; suspect sought

SOUTH LOS ANGELES

Williams was heading to the store just after midnight. She was crossing the street at 120th Street and Central Avenue when she was struck. Authorities say she died at the scene. Surveillance video from a nearby store shows a vehicle speeding away after Williams was hit.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed two vehicles were apparently racing northbound on Central Avenue. Police say the hit-and-run vehicle is a dark-colored 2004 to 2007 Ford Taurus.

Family members say the teenager had just graduated from high school and was looking forward to attending college. They're hoping the driver will come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to call LAPD South Traffic detectives at (323) 421-2570.
