Demi Lovato is reportedly in talks to appear in a multi-episode arc on FOX's "Glee" this fall.
The singer and current judge on "The X Factor" is close to signing on to guest star on "Glee" for six episodes of the show's fifth season, according to TV Line. The report says Lovato would play a New York City-based struggling artist who befriends Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry.
Lovato's role on "Glee" would mark her first major acting role since departing her Disney Channel original series "Sonny With a Chance," leaving the show to recover from personal health struggles. The singer's other acting credits include the TV-movie "Camp Rock" alongside The Jonas Brothers and guest roles on "Prison Break" and "Grey's Anatomy."
Lovato would also join former "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert as the musical show's latest season 5 guest star.
Earlier this year, Lovato spoke about "Glee" star Cory Monteith's death, saying "All it takes is one moment of vulnerability to get slipped into your addiction. He didn't choose to die."
The singer also endured the death of her father Patrick Lovato, who passed away in June following a battle with cancer, telling Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America", that while she was estranged from her father, "At the end of the day, he's still my dad. And I grew up with him, he was a wonderful person. And it's difficult. But I'm handling it OK."
Lovato returns to her role as a judge on FOX's singing competition series "The X Factor" in September alongside Simon Cowell and new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio. Lovato joined the series in 2012 alongside pop star Britney Spears. Spears, who along with music executive L.A. Reid departed the series after its second season.
Lovato also released her fourth studio album, "Demi," in May.
