Michael Boatwright, a 61-year-old Vietnam veteran, has now moved to Sweden.
It's still not clear how he ended up passed out in a Palm Springs Motel 6.
After he was taken to a hospital and revived, he said he'd never heard of Michael Boatwright.
Doctors diagnosed him with transient global amnesia.
A hospital social worker set up a Facebook page to help piece together his past. It turns out he'd lived in Sweden in the early 1980s and dated a woman there. That woman greeted him as he returned to Sweden Wednesday, and has arranged for a place for him to live.
He doesn't remember her, but says she gives him a "warm feeling."
