Sailboat runs aground in Venice; no one hurt

VENICE, LOS ANGELES

Officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department say the person behind the wheel of the 30-foot sailboat misjudged the channel, beaching the boat just off the 5400 block of Ocean Front Walk around 8:45 p.m.

Thirteen people were on board. Some of them were thrown into the water and had to be rescued by lifeguards, according to a witness.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

The boat didn't appear to be damaged and was later towed to Marina Del Rey.
