Everyone is talking about Miley Cyrus' shocking performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which saw her dancing in a nude bikini and Twerking against duet partner Robin Thicke.
After the ceremony, a certain name began trending: Billy Ray Cyrus. The 20-year-old pop star's father, who once co-starred with her on the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," has spoken about Miley's performance directly.
He did tweet hours after the ceremony: "Thanking God for so many blessings tonight. Continue to pray for world peace. More love ...less hate."
UPDATE: Billy Ray later added: "FYI'Love Not Hate"Late last night I was watching devastating news out of Syria. Chemical weapons used on innocent children is unacceptable!"
Miley's mother Tish was seen on camera giving her daughter a standing ovation while standing in the audience with Mike Will Made It, who produced the singer's hit "We Can't Stop" and features her on his new rap single "23."
She also retweeted a post from Derek Blasberg, Harper's Bazaar magazine's Editor-in-Large, who said: "Obsessed with @MileyCyrus's performance at the VMA's. It was like a karaoke party at the Playboy mansion. In the 90's. In platform sneakers."
Thicke, who performed with Cyrus his newest single "Blurred Lines," whose unrated music video contains topless women, tweeted later: "Such a wild night. Thanks to @MTV for letting me be apart of it. #VMA. (sic)"
