LA County Fair kicks off Labor Day weekend with family fun

POMONA, Calif.

One of the biggest draws to the fair is the food, and this year's menu won't disappoint. Chicken Charlie's is cooking up new items, including bacon-wrapped pickles, deep-fried cookie dough, the waffle dog and the Krispy Kreme burger. This concoction is built upon two glazed Krispy Kreme donuts with two patties and two slices of cheese stashed in between. You can also try the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe. Classics like the deep-fried Twinkie are also making a comeback.

Rides, games and exhibits abound. Visitors can get up-close and personal with sea lions at the Sea Lion Splash exhibit, which features shows three times a day. Kids can let their imaginations run wild at the From Pencils 2 Pixels exhibit. The Walt Disney Family Museum is part of the fun and gives people a look into the man behind the Disney magic. Kids can also explore the worlds of anime and Saturday morning cartoons, and even learn to draw their favorite characters.

Other family fun exhibits include Mojo's African Safari, pig races and the petting zoo.

Ribbon-cutting at the fair starts at 3 p.m. The fair runs from Aug. 30 to Sept. 29. Weekend ticket prices run $19 for adults 13+, $12 for children 12 and under and $15 for seniors 60+.
