NBA player Lamar Odom, husband and co-star of E! reality star Khloe Kardashian Odom, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles on Friday, Aug. 30, days after ESPN reported that he was dealing with a drug problem.
Police say that around 3:25 a.m., officers spotted Lamar driving a white Mercedes SUV on a Los Angeles highway east, about eight miles away from his and Khloe's home, in a "serpentine manner" at 50 miles per hour. They say they attempted to pull him over and that he continued past three exits before getting off the main road and stopping.
Lamar, 33, showed "obvious signs of intoxication" and was "unable to perform a field sobriety test," an official said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked at a local jail at 5:01 a.m. where he refused to undergo a chemical test -- an offense punishable by a driver's license suspension of up to a year.
Lamar and Khloe have not commented. He was released from jail after several hours and after posting a $15,000 bond. Lamar is due in court on Sept. 27.
The news comes following rumors that said Lamar was missing for several days following an argument with Khloe, which the couple has not confirmed. ESPN quoted a source as saying he was in a hotel and that friends are trying to help him overcome an "unspecified drug problem." His agent told the sports outlet that Khloe "knows exactly where he is."
