Kate Middleton showcased a slim figure and surprised fans in her native United Kingdom on Friday, Aug. 30, marking an early first official public appearance since giving birth to her and Prince William's son, Prince George.
At the Ring O'Fire Anglesey Coastal Ultra 135-mile Marathon on the island of Anglesey, near Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met runners, volunteers and residents.
Kate wore an olive green Ralph Lauren blazer over a white, patterned, silk Zara blouse, black skinny pants and black slingback wedge sandals and her wavy, auburn hair tucked behind her ears. She bent down to speak to children and held several bouquets, including one with pale pink hydrangeas.
Kate told onlookers that her and William's five-week-old son was at home napping with his grandmother and her mother, Carole Middleton, adding that the baby is "sweet" and sleeping well, People magazine reported.
Kate gave birth to Prince George, her and William's first child and the heir to the British throne, on July 22 and the two later appeared with the baby outside the hospital. The duchess was originally scheduled to make her first official public post-baby appearance on Sept. 12, at the Tusk Conservation Awards in London.
William has made several public appearance since their son's birth, including an agricultural show in Wales, where he got to get up close and personal with a hawk (see PHOTOS).
