Lance Bass had some big news to share with his fans recently. The former 'N Sync singer popped the question to boyfriend Michael Turchin.
"He said YES!! Love this man @michaelturchinart," Bass wrote in a caption for a photo posted on his Instagram account on Sunday, Sept. 1. The photo features Turchin holding up his hand to reveal the engagement ring. Bass can be viewed in the photo, seen above on the right, pointing to the ring.
The 34-year-old singer told the story of how he popped the question in New Orleans on his "Dirty Pop with Lance Bass" SiriusXM radio show on Sunday. He explained that he first had trouble finding the perfect ring.
"A few days ago, before we came to New Orleans, I'm like, 'This is the place, this is definitely the place.' 'Cause I knew all my friends were going to be down here from Mississippi and L.A.," Bass said. "I wanted to be surrounded by loved ones and I was like, 'Ok, this has to be it.' So then we get down here and then the only thing missing is the ring. I gotta go get a ring."
"We tried finding a ring here, it's impossible. They don't make guy rings," Bass later added. "Someone needs to start a line for gay men's rings."
Bass said he finally ended up going to Saks Fifth Avenue and picked out a David Yurman ring. "I looked at it [the ring] like, 'That's the one,'" Bass said.
The singer then explained that he met up with his group of friends and Turchin and they all began to head off to a karaoke bar. He and Turchin split off from the group during the walk to go to a park called Jackson Square, where Bass said he always knew that is where he wanted to propose, but the gates to the park were locked for the weekend.
He then talked about the last two years with Turchin and "I got down on one knee and I proposed," Bass said.
Bass and Turchin, a 26-year-old aspiring actor, artist and occasional model, started dating in December 2011. Turchin said he had no idea Bass was planning to propose. Bass also explained that the two don't plan on marrying this year, but perhaps next year.
Bass recently reunited with his former 'N SYNC band members Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick. The group appeared together on stage and performed a medley of their hit singles "Bye Bye Bye," "Gone" and "Girlfriend."
