Ford announces recall of 400K vehicles for corrosion

DETROIT

The affected sedans include 2005 to 2011 Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town cars.

Company officials say the recall is due to potential corrosion to the vehicle's steering shaft that may result in a loss of steering.

Dealers will replace the lower intermediate shaft free of charge and will also inspect the upper intermediate shaft and steering column lower bearing.

The recall is expected to begin Oct. 21, 2013. Owners may contact Ford at (866) 436-7332.
