The giant inflatable sculpture Exxopolis is a luminarium and comes to Los Angeles all the way from Nottingham, England.
"It's an opportunity to see modern contemporary art live as architecture," said Pasadena resident Joan Towles.
The 23-foot-tall work of art is here for two weekends, and it's free to the public. People can walk through and experience art in a whole different way.
Exxopolis has many different tunnels that open up into huge domed rooms, and all the light and color you are seeing comes from sunlight.
The sculpture is inspired by Islamic architecture and gothic cathedrals, and in a special twist, the Los Angeles appearance of Exxopolis features random acts of culture.
"There are 80 short performances that celebrate global arts traditions. Some are musical traditions, some are dance, some are spoken word," said Barbara Leonard, senior director of programming for the Music Center.
Exxopolis is sure to wow its visitors, transporting them to another world while saluting the diverse communities and cultures that make up Los Angeles.
