Man arrested for punching cars in Target parking lot

VENTURA, Calif. Ventura Police received a report of a man punching cars in the parking lot of a Target store on Main Street at about 3:38 p.m. Monday.

The woman reporting the incident, who was sitting in a vehicle in the lot, was then approached by the suspect, who began punching her vehicle.

A concerned citizen then intervened, at which point the suspect allegedly punched the man in the face, knocking him to the ground. The suspect then tried to get into the man's truck. The man pulled the suspect out of the truck.

The suspect allegedly pulled a screwdriver from his pocket and attempted to stab the intervening citizen, who tackled the suspect, disarmed him and held him until police officers arrived.

Ventura resident Seth Dees, 34, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, attempted carjacking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was treated for injuries sustained in his struggle with the intervening citizen.
