Arcadia High School was locked down for hours Thursday after a bogus threat. It was the third such incident this week.
The school went on lockdown after someone called 911 claiming he was going to shoot students with an assault rifle. After searching the campus, authorities did not find a gunman.
"We were all very upset that we had to stay longer in class and it went all the way almost to 7 p.m.," said student Katharine Lam.
It was the third time this week a school in the San Gabriel Valley has been targeted by a male phoning in phony criminal threats. First it was Santa Fe Middle School in Monrovia, followed by Duarte High School, then Arcadia High. Authorities believe it's the same caller.
"It's a collaborative effort between the allied agencies here in the Southland as well as the FBI to bring this person to justice," said Lt. Bob Anderson with the Arcadia Police Department.
Hoaxes like this one also divert police resources. And for parents, it can be nerve-wracking and a major inconvenience.
