Funeral held for girl killed in Moreno Valley shooting

LONG BEACH, Calif.

The funeral for Tiana Ricks was held in Long Beach. She would have turned 7 on Sept. 21.

Tiana's mother says they received donations from rappers Snoop Lion and The Game, who attended the service.

Tiana and her father, Tyrell Ricks, had just arrived at a family gathering at a home in the 25000 block of Harker Lane last Saturday, when two suspected gang members walked up and began shooting. The 6-year-old was killed by gunfire, and her father was wounded.

A cousin spoke out at Saturday's service.

"The effect that it has and the toll that it has on the community, on the children, on the parents, on her relatives, on everybody that loved her, people that don't know her, just to see a young life lost so soon is very tragic," said Angel Barnes.

So far, no arrests have been made in the case.

Anyone with information was urged to contact the Riverside County Sheriff's Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or the sheriff's Moreno Valley station at (951) 486-6700.
