Here's your first look as Meryl Streep as the witch in the new film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Tony-winning Broadway musical "Into The Woods," courtesy of Walt Disney Studios.
The 64-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who also showcased her singing skills in the movie "Mamma Mia!," appears in the new film with the likes of "Twilight" alum Anna Kendrick, who plays Cinderella, "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine, who plays her prince and Christine Baranski, who plays her wicked stepmother. Emily Blunt portrays the baker's wife and Johnny Depp stars as the wolf.
"Into The Woods" is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales and shows what happened to Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and other memorable characters, including new additions -- the baker and his wife. Streep plays a witch who casts a spell on them -- she wants to reverse a curse that would restore her beauty.
Principal photography on "Into The Woods" began last week. The movie's director is Rob Marshall, who directed the film adaptations of "Chicago" and "Nine" as well as Depp in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."
"Into The Woods" is set for release in 2014 on Dec. 25 -- Christmas Day.
