Ventura suspicious fires spark investigation

VENTURA, Calif.

No one was injured but the fires were considered suspicious.

A bush was reported on fire in a city parking lot near Santa Clara Street and Oak Street around 12:41 a.m.

The second fire broke out in the 200 block of East Main Street around 1:13 a.m. Authorities say a vehicle was set on fire. The incident was ultimately ruled an arson.

In addition, multiple bushes appeared to be set on fire in the area of Valdez Alley near Ventura Avenue and Main Street around 1:36 a.m.

The last fire was reported in the rear alley of the Red Barn Market in the 900 block of Ventura Avenue. Authorities say a trash dumpster was initially set on fire. The blaze spread to the business.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
