Los Feliz sexual assaults: photographer arrested in Palm Springs

LOS ANGELES

John Everett Perry, 34, was arrested last week and charged with multiple counts of molestation. One of his alleged victims is a 15-year-old boy.

Detectives say last Tuesday Perry approached a 15-year-old boy in the Los Feliz area of L.A. and asked him if he was interested in modeling.

"When the victim expressed some interest, Mr. Perry lured him into his car where he molested him," said LAPD Captain Jeff Bert.

Investigators say that less than an hour later Perry approached a second victim in a Starbucks located on the 2900 block of Los Feliz Boulevard.

"This time an adult male in his 20s. In this incident Perry represented himself as a fashion photographer and lured him to a nearby bathroom where he sexually assaulted the man," said Bert.

Police say the suspect lives in Long Beach and is believed to frequent areas in Orange County and L.A. He was arrested Wednesday in Palm Springs and brought back to Los Angeles.

"He is very polite, he's very gentle, he was very friendly with the victims. There was absolutely no force used," said Bert. "He is using the ruse that he is a photographer -- and he is photographer -- for a fashion company and he is interested in photographing these people. ... With two victims in a 45-minute period, we have a strong belief there could be other victims."

Perry is facing multiple charges including lewd acts with a child under the age of 16 and sexual battery.

Police say the suspect lives in Long Beach and is believed to frequent areas in Orange County and L.A. He was arrested last week in Palm Springs and brought back to L.A.

Perry was released on $75,000 bail Thursday. He is scheduled to appear in court in downtown Los Angeles on Oct. 21.
