Silverado mulch fire nears full containment

SILVERADO CANYON, ORANGE COUNTY

As of late Monday afternoon, the blaze was 80 percent contained with the burn area totaling 50 acres.

The fire broke out Sunday morning in a mulch patch in the 27900 block of Baker Canyon Road and spread quickly into wild vegetation. At least one structure was damaged and one firefighter suffered a minor injury.

Six homes were placed under voluntary evacuation orders. All of those evacuated residents have been allowed back into the Baker Canyon area.

Winds died down overnight and the humidity level went up, which helped the firefight.

Crews expect full containment sometime Tuesday.
