"Glee" is set to air its tribute episode to the late actor Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the show, and Monteith's co-star Mike O'Malley called the episode "remarkable."
Monteith died in July from using intravenous heroin combined with alcohol. O'Malley plays Burt Hummel on the show, Finn's stepfather and the father of Finn's ex-classmate and stepbrother Kurt.
O'Malley appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show on Thursday, Oct. 10, where he talked about the episode and called Monteith a "great guy" and a "terrific, terrific actor." Video of his interview can be seen below.
"I think that the writers -- Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan -- have taken this incredible task, which was to write a story about a character that's passed away and yet honor the actor and really show the audience the love that the cast and the crew, but also that the audience, had for him," O'Malley said. "It was a really remarkable episode. I think it's one of the most beautiful episodes they've ever written on that show and I think they've written some beautiful ones."
O'Malley, who also appears on the series "Welcome to The Family," talked about how some of the cast dealt with Monteith's death.
"I think that everyone in the cast is dealing with it in their own way, because they all had their own relationship with him," the 46-year-old said. "I don't want to profess that I was as close to him as some of the younger people were on that show, because they were an incredibly close unit."
He later added, "What they went through was such a massive experience of fame, exposure and success, and I really think that they all handled it quite well."
A promotional clip for the episode was released earlier this month. In the clip, Lea Michele, Monteith's real-life girlfriend and Finn's love interest, Rachel, is seen sobbing as she is comforted by Matthew Morrison, who plays Glee Club instructor Mr. Schue.
The episode is set to air on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. on Fox and is titled "The Quarterback."
