Teen pop star Austin Mahone has been rushed to a hospital after experiencing "bad" flu symptoms, prompting him to postpone a tour, while he and his mother shared photos on Instagram.
The 17-year-old singer was taken to a medical center on Thursday morning, People magazine reported.
"We feel very bad but we have no choice but to cancel the tour for now," his mother Michele posted on the pop star's behalf on his Twitter page. "Thank you for your prayers #PrayforAustin."
The hashtags #PrayForAustin and #FeelBetterAustin soon began trending on the social network on Thursday evening.
Austin's tour was supposed to begin on Thursday. Now, it may have to be rescheduled for early 2014, People magazine quoted a source as saying.
On Wednesday, Austin tweeted: "Mahomies I'm so so so sorry but I have to reschedule the shows tomorrow in Miami and in Orlando. I can't believe this is happening its my first tour I'm so upset. I feel like I'm letting you all down. Its Doctor's orders I have a bad flu 103 fever and I can't move. If I could go I would."
On Thursday morning, Austin shared an Instagram photo of himself wearing a hospital gown and hooked up to an IV, adding: "I've never felt so bad." (See below)
On Thursday evening, his mother began tweeting on his behalf.
"Mahomies its @michelemahone Austin is very ill. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the entire MTV Artist to Watch Tour," she said. "Austin is very upset about this & we want to say we are sorry to all the Mahomies & their parents who have made arrangements to come out."
"My poor baby... I cannot remember the last time he was so sick," she added, posting another Instagram photo of Mahone on his hospital bed. (See below)
