Officials said at least four others were transported to the hospital. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Citrus Avenue.
Witnesses said a red SUV drove at a very high rate of speed through a red light, hit a blue truck, kept going and struck a black vehicle carrying the man and the child. Initial information from police indicated the adult victim was a woman. Authorities later clarified that the victim was a man.
"The ones that passed, they were stopped at the red light, and the one who took it, he survived," said witness Valerie Lopez. "It's terrifying. No words can explain what you see and what you feel seeing that."
The identities of the victims have not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
