Jake Gyllenhaal showcased a drastically thinner look at the Hollywood Film Awards this week, raising concerns among fans online about his health.
The 32-year-old actor now sports sharp cheekbones and is also clean-shaven and sports longer hair than usual. Gyllenhaal, who has over the past year and a half sported a beard in public, told Us Weekly that he had lost weight for his role in the new thriller "Nightcrawler," in which he plays a struggling crime reporter in Los Angeles.
"I knew that [Lou] was literally and figuratively hungry," he told the magazine, adding that he had emulated his character by getting into a "mode where I was always a bit hungry."
He did not specify how many pounds he lost or what else he did, besides eating less, to lose the weight.
At the Hollywood Film Awards, Gyllenhaal was honored with the Hollywood Supporting Actor Award for his role in the thriller "Prisoners." (Check out a full list of Hollywood Film Award winners - Sandra Bullock and Harrison Ford are also among the recipients.)
