Natalie Portman got the chance to really slap Chris Hemsworth in "Thor: The Dark World."
Portman plays Thor's love interest in the film and slaps the god of thunder at least twice in one scene, which can be seen here. The 32-year-old actress confirmed to George Pennacchio of KABC Television, OTRC.com's parent company, recently that the slaps were real.
When Pennacchio asked if the slaps were fake, Portman replied, "No, they weren't, unfortunately for those guys. Although it's not like I'm a strong, strong girl. So, they could handle it."
Earlier in the interview, Portman said the slaps were "pretty, you know, one for the sisters I think."
In the new film, Thor must again try to save Earth, this time from an evil, ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith, played by Christopher Eccleston.
"There's just so much fantasy, you need a lot of imagination I think to sort of grasp all the different elements," Portman said of the film.
She later added about the film's changes in tone from action to drama to comedy, "I think it's what the Marvel movies succeed at so much, is just making it really like an enjoyable movie experience and such a big part of that is humor."
Portman admitted that it's fun to be in big budget action films like "Thor: The Dark World."
"It's so fun to get to be part of something that kids love and that like a really wide audience loves," she said. "There's something magic about being a part of real, pure entertainment."
"Thor: The Dark World" also stars Anthony Hopkins as Thor's father, Odin, and Tom Hiddleston as his evil brother, Loki. The film hits theaters on Nov. 8. Check out a trailer below.
