Reser's meat, salad products recalled over possible listeria contamination

WASHINGTON

Officials say the refrigerated ready-to-eat products were manufactured at a plant in Topeka, Kan. but were sold all across the U.S. and Canada.

The recall includes items such as coleslaw, pimento salad and potato salad. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the recalled foods include 22,800 pounds of contaminated chicken, ham and beef.

So far, no illnesses have been reported.

The company and federal officials listed various "sell by" dates for the recalled products. You can see the full list of affected products by visiting www.fda.gov/safety.

Consumers who purchased the product may take it back to the store for a refund or discard it. For more information, please contact Reser's Fine Foods Consumer Hotline 1-888-257-7913 (8 a.m. - 8 p.m. EST).

Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon and potentially fatal disease. Symptoms can include high fever and severe headache.
