Police imposter scamming Simi Valley elderly via phone

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.

There have been two incidents. In both cases, a man identifying himself as a Ventura police officer told the potential victims that they failed to appear in court, and if they didn't pay him $2,000, he would arrest them.

Police hope to make an arrest using the phone number the scammer has been using, which is (805) 286-8769.

If you are contacted by someone calling from this number, police advise to politely tell the caller you are not falling for it.
