Julianne Hough sparked controversy over the weekend after paparazzi photos of the "Dancing With The Stars" alum wearing blackface makeup at a Halloween party were posted online.

The 25-year-old sister of Derek Hough and native of Salt Lake City had shown up dressed up as the black inmate Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren from the hit Netflix women's prison drama "Orange Is The New Black" (see photo on ABC News). She later apologized on Twitter.

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created (sic)," Hough said. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Aduba was unavailable for comment on Monday.
