Ewan McGregor has set his sights on Broadway!
The actor, who has starred in numerous hit films including the "Star Wars" franchise, will star in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of playwright Tom Stoppard's "The Real Thing," beginning in October 2014.
This will mark the actor's first time taking to the Broadway way stage; however, McGregor has been featured in a number of plays in London.
McGregor has also starred in the hit movie musical "Moulin Rouge!," alongside Nicole Kidman. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and earned McGregor a Golden Globe nomination for his role as Christian.
"The Real Thing," which won the 1984 Tony Award for Best Play, will be directed by Sam Gold and will run for a limited engagement beginning in October 2014 through early January 2015 at the American Airlines Theatre, reports Playbill. This will be the first time in 14 years "The Real Thing" will be featured on Broadway.
McGregor will portray the character Henry, a playwright who is unhappily married to a woman named Charlotte, mirroring the plot of Henry's play. Henry then begins an affair with a character named Annie and soon life begins imitating art in an all-too-real way.
"The Real Thing" will be a part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 2014-15 season. Tickets for the show will be available beginning in Summer 2014.
