Suspect dead after Long Beach officer-involved shooting

LONG BEACH, Calif.

Long Beach police said they responded to the area of Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue around 4 p.m. in regards to a man firing a gun. When they arrived, officers saw the suspect who was described to them. When they contacted him, an officer-involved shooting occurred, officials said.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Officers said they learned that the suspect shot at a vehicle at a gas station multiple times. The vehicle fled the scene.

The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information on this incident was asked to contact Long Beach police at (562) 570-7244.
