Disney has released the first official trailer for its upcoming live-action film "Maleficent," which stars Angelina Jolie and marks the acting debut of her and Brad Pitt's youngest daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 5.
The 38-year-old actress plays the title character, known as the horned, evil sorceress and main villain in the animated 1959 classic "Sleeping Beauty." "Maleficent" depicts her origin story. Vivienne, twin sister of Jolie's son Knox and one of her and Pitt's six children, plays the child version of Princess Aurora. Elle Fanning plays the character as a teenager. The movie is set for release on May 30, 2014.
The trailer, which was released on Wednesday, Nov. 13, is narrated by Fanning and shows several elements from "Sleeping Beauty": Fairies, Maleficent's sidekick and personal spy -- a raven who is named Diablo in the animated movie, the spindle of a spinning wheel that Aurora touches and the fence of thorns that the villain creates around her.
Maleficent herself also makes a menacing appearance through the shadows. Also seen: Fanning-as-teenage-Aurora, who is also the narrator, and Vivienne-as-little-Aurora running through a field.
A day earlier, the first official poster for "Maleficent" was posted online.
