Students sickened at Ritter Elementary School in Watts

WATTS, LOS ANGELES

The students at Ritter Elementary School got sick around noon. They were all complaining of nausea and upset stomachs. One school official said some of the students had the chills and were vomiting.

The 20 children were released early to their parents. Officials said one child was hospitalized. The condition of that child was not immediately available.

The sickened children were from two different classes. It's unclear what they ingested. Officials said the school is now testing all of the different foods that were served on Friday.

"Parents were crying. For any parent, it's scary. If mine was sick, I would be freaking out myself," said parent Larinda Gutierrez.
