Seaman Apprentice Dylan Ruffer returned Monday from an 11-month tour in Syria. His bride, 19-year-old Madison Meinhardt, was waiting for him at the airport in her wedding dress.
The couple tied the knot just after midnight under a tulle-covered arch in front of the arrivals escalators as more than 200 invited guests, passengers and others looked on.
The two planned to marry a year ago, but his deployment was extended unexpectedly. Three weeks ago, Meinhardt emailed the airport saying they wanted to be married as quickly as possible.
The airport and several other businesses set it all up, including flowers, a reception with a DJ, and the marriage license.
