Katy Perry delivered a visually stunning music video for her latest single, "Unconditionally."
The video, which can be viewed below, was released on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and features Perry in elegant dresses and scenes of her in a ballroom surrounded waltzing dancers.
In one scene, Perry appears on fire, in another she is holding an owl and at the climax of the song, she gets hit by a car, but is left unscathed.
Perry explained the abstract imagery in her music video to rapper Iggy Azalea on MTV on Tuesday.
"The music video is kind of inspired by a couple of different movies, like 'Dangerous Liaisons' and 'Anna Karenina,'" Perry explained. "It doesn't have a complete narrative.'Cause I do that all the time; I usually have quite a big story line and you see the beginning and the ending."
"This time I wanted to give a lot of gorgeous, beautiful, looks, which I don't usually go for," she added. "Then some heavy metaphors like the scene where I'm being hit by a car is kind of representational of when love hits you, you feel like you've been hit by a car, but it's mostly just a beautiful video that is supposed to evoke this power of love and beauty, which is unconditional love."
"Unconditionally" is the second single off "Prism," which was released on Oct. 18. Check out a track-by-track review of the album here.
