Probation Officer Kenneth Hamilton was riding home from work on his motorcycle before dawn on October 28 when a driver in a silver Honda Civic DX struck him, killing him instantly, according to the LAPD.
Hamilton was struck near Soto Street and Lancaster Avenue next to Hazard Park. He had been working an overnight shift at Central Juvenile Hall.
Police believe the passenger-side mirror of the Honda was sheared off in the crash.
"Someone out there knows something, saw something or may even know the driver who fled," said Chief Probation Officer Jerry Powers. "The reward money is a reminder that Los Angeles has not forgotten, the LAPD has not forgotten and that this crime must be solved and the driver brought to justice."
Hamilton, a father of three, was an assistant baseball coach at Santiago High School in Corona for 17 years.
