Jennifer Lawrence recently experienced a medical scare and talked about it in an interview on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
On the talk series on Wednesday, the 23-year-old Oscar winner, who stars in the new movie "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," revealed that she had recently been hospitalized and had undergone an endoscopy, in which a tube and camera is inserted into the body, after suspecting she had an ulcer.
"I thought I had an ulcer and turns out it was a fulcer,'" she joked. "I went to the emergency room. I just had this really bad pain for like, three weeks."
"I did this endo ... something where they put me to sleep," Lawrence said. "It's pretty clear when you first meet me, I'm a freaking headcase and I'm crazy and so I was like, in there, I was like, 'What are these? What does that mean? What does that say' and then they were like, putting me to sleep and I can see the stuff coming towards me."
Lawrence, who is known for her sharp sense of humor, said she was told to think about a peaceful place, such as an island, and that past patients have had "pleasant dreams" during the procedure.
"The last thing I said was, 'I'm paralyzed!'" she told David Letterman. "And then I just passed out and then, when I woke up, she was like, "Jennifer, did you have any dreams?' 'I dreamed there was a nuclear bomb.'"
While she was waking up, Lawrence began rattling off pop culture references.
"And then, like, the first lucid conversation I remember having was about the Kardashians," the actress said. "And then I put my hand on the anesthesiologist's chest and was like, 'Will you please promise me something -- will you promise me to watch 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'? Please?'"
She said that she was told "the problem is either in my lower intestine or in my mind," adding: "I don't have an ulcer. Something's wrong with and I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how many medical bills I rack up."
Later in the interview, Lawrence introduced her brother, Ben, and snuggled under a comforter with Letterman.
