Pitbull is getting ready to set the 2013 American Music Award's stage on fire.
The Miami rapper is hosting the AMAs for the first time, as well as taking the stage as one of the night's many performers (see full list). The AMAs air live on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC (check local listings).
Pitbull and AMAs producer Larry Klein recently caught up with OTRC.com's Rachel Smith, where the two rolled out the show's red carpet outside the Niokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, chatted about the evening's all-star list of performers and why Pitbull is the perfect host for the show.
Check out three highlights from Pitbull's interview below and watch the full interview, as well as the rollout of the 2013 AMAs red carpet, above.
1. Pitbull says he's not the perfect host, which makes him the perfect host.
"No, not right now. We're having a great time throwing ideas around, but more than anything I'm sure the butterflies will be flying heavy when I'm up on stage. But to me that's the fun part. You've always got to push yourself to the next limit, next level."
"They've given me an amazing opportunity and say, 'hey, why is he the perfect host?' I'm not the perfect host, I think that's what makes me the perfect host. You gotta be able to come, you know, left field, and they go, 'what was happening?'"
2. The rapper wants to keep his wardrobe simple and sexy.
"I'm not looking to change much, to be honest with you. I was hoping to keep it nice, simple, sexy, Armando Bond, '00-305'. What do you think about that?"
3. Pitbull refers to "Timber" collaborator Ke$ha as "crazy, fun and sexy."
"Actually, I will be up there with Ke$ha with the new record called 'Timber' and with that, you know, Ke$ha's always a fun thing. I was on tour with her and I got a chance to see that she is actually very crazy, fun, sexy, cool, wild and all of the above. So that's why I did a record with her and we're gonna be at the AMAs."
