Amber Riley says she is very proud of herself for winning season 17 of "Dancing With The Stars," which marks partner Derek Hough's fifth such victory.
The 27-year-old actress, known best for her role as Mercedes on the FOX series "Glee," and partner Derek Hough took home Mirror Ball trophies on the finale on Tuesday, beating celebrity finalists Jack Osbourne and "High School Musical" alum Corbin Bleu.
"Oh wow!" Riley said, cradling her trophy. "For me, it was the hard work, it was the doubt that I had that I would make it this far and this is just ... the cherry on top of a sundae for me. Me accomplishing all that I did every single week was my reward and this is just like extra, something extra."
"A shiny, disco cherry," Hough added.
"Yes!" Riley said. "And it's a representation that you can do whatever it is that you put your mind to. I'm really proud of myself. I can really say that I am. I'm very proud of myself."
"I think it's amazing that I'm doing something positive and I did something just because I wanted to learn how to dance just because I wanted to work out, you know what I mean? I wanted to be healthy. It was kind of a selfish reason," she said.
Riley adding that she is also happy she could inspire herself and others.
This marked the fifth "Dancing With The Stars" victory for Hough, an Emmy-winning choreographer.
"It's unbelievable. I'm very blessed to have had great partners," he told OTRC.com.
In the past, Hough won Mirror Ball trophies with partners Kellie Pickler, Jennifer Grey of "Dirty Dancing" fame, Nicole Scherzinger and Brooke Burke-Charvet, who later became a "Dancing With The Stars" co-host.
Following the finale, Osbourne dished out advice for his two-year-old daughter, Pearl, should she decide to compete on "Dancing With The Stars" in the future.
"I will tell her that if she's ever considering doing 'Dancing With The Stars,' [to] make sure she has a very wide-open clear schedule and dance with Derek Hough," he said.
