A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy fired a gun during a traffic stop in Victorville early Sunday morning.

The County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from Teazers Bar and Nightclub at 14269 7th Street in Victorville reporting a criminal threat at 12:28 a.m. The caller reported that an employee's life was threatened.

The caller said a small group of underage and intoxicated people was denied entry by an employee. One person in the group threatened the victim, saying he would return to shoot him and shoot at his residence. The suspect said he knew where the employee lived and provided the street and city of the employee. The group then left in two separate vehicles. The vehicle descriptions were relayed to responding deputies from the Victorville station.

Deputies located and followed the two vehicles onto a dead end street on the 13900 block of Smoke Tree Road in a residential area and conducted a traffic stop. An officer-involved shooting then occurred, according to the sheriff's department. No one was injured in the shooting.

Apple Valley resident Tyrell Smith, 39, was identified as the suspect who made the threats. He was arrested for making criminal threats and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
