Paul Walker Sr., the father of Paul Walker, a star of the "Fast and Furious" movies who was killed in a car accident over the weekend, recalls in an interview with OTRC.com's parent company, KABC Television, several of his fondest members of his late son.

The 40-year-old actor and a friend both died in a fatal car crash on Saturday, Nov. 30, in Valencia, north of Los Angeles (see more details). Paul grew up in the nearby San Fernando Valley with his parents and two brothers. Check out excerpts of the interview with his father below and watch it in full by clicking on the videos, above and below.

1. On his grief ...

"You lost a spirit," Paul's father said. "Maybe it's meant to be this way. I'm devastated and it comes in waves."

"I knew he loved me," he added. "It went both ways and I always told him that and I always gave him a kiss and I knew that eventually, he might come to realize what a good person he was."

2. On his relationship with his son, and his son's relationship with his daughter ...

Paul's father said he and his son were "really close" and that the actor recently spoke to him about wanting to spend more time with his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow. Her mother is one of his ex-girlfriends.

3. On his son's encounters with fans ...

Paul's father recalled how since his son's death, people have told him "wonderful stories" about the actor. He noted an instance in which a man surprised his 17-year-old daughter by introducing her to Paul and how his son fulfilled a fellow restaurant patron's request to meet his kids.

"That was so what he did," his father said. "That was so typical of him."

4. On Paul's past career as a child actor ...

The actor's father said his son began his acting career at age 2 and appeared in commercials for Pampers diapers and puppy chow.

"People just gravitated toward him," he said.

5. On a car game he played with his sons ...

Paul's father said he would play a game with his sons in which they would have to name the makers of vehicles they saw driving on a road.

"The winner -- you have to call him 'Champ,'" he said. "You gotta call him Champ for a week. Come on, you're brothers. You have to call the other one Champ. If you call him by his given name, then it's another day."

"You think I was asking them to cut off their fingers," he joked.

6. On his son's love of eating ...

"Oh my goodness, that man could eat. You put anything in front of him ... a hamburger ... 'I'm hungry.' I said, 'Man, you tell me that every 10 minutes.' 'I am hungry,'" the actor's father said. "He says, 'Make me one of those sandwiches. You make good sandwiches.' I liked doing it. I liked that he liked them."
