"Spider-Man" fans: prepare to be amazed!
The official trailer for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was released on Dec. 5 and can be viewed above. Featuring new villains and faces to the franchise, the film serves as a sequel to 2012's wildly popular "The Amazing Spider-Man," starring Andrew Garfield in the titular role.
The trailer finds Garfield's character Peter Parker grappling with his role as New York City's superhero, as he continues to make more enemies with increasingly strong powers.
"Every day I wake up knowing that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will try to make and it's just a matter of time until I face those with more power than I can overcome," Parker says in the clip.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" also stars Emma Stone, who portrayed Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy in the franchise's first installment, as well as Sally Field as Parker's Aunt May.
The film also marks the first appearances of Harry and Norman Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper respectively. Actors James Franco and Willem Dafoe originated the roles in the 2002 "Spider-Man" film and subsequent sequels, which starred Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
Spider-Man also faces off against villains Electro and The Rhino in the new installment, played by Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti respectively. Earlier this year, it was announced that Shailene Woodley, who was cast in the role of Mary Jane Watson, was cut from the film for creative decisions.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" hits theaters on May 2, 2014.
