Man arrested for suspected arson in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif.

The officer says he spotted 40-year-old Eduardo Hernandez assisting the fire near the 1600 block of East Fifth Street around 10:40 a.m.

After reporting the fire, the officer attempted to make contact with the subject who began to walk away. Hernandez became uncooperative and combative but was shortly apprehended by a police K9 unit.

Hernandez was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

The suspect has an extensive rap sheet involving drug charges and was recently arrested for arson in Oxnard.

Hernandez was charged with resisting arrest, threatening a police officer and arson.
