The incident happened around 8 p.m. on the 12000 block of National Boulevard. Police say the victim, only identified as a woman between 50 and 60 years old, was arriving home when the suspect approached and stabbed her.
"We believe we have a follow-home robbery, where a suspect followed the victim to her residence and when she was at the front door, proceeded to ask her for some directions or disturb her in some way, was able to get into the house and remove some of her property," said Capt. Brian Johnson with the Los Angeles Police Department.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Authorities said it's believed the suspect is also responsible for other similar robberies around Los Angeles.
