Body found in Compton backyard; boyfriend arrested

COMPTON, Calif.

Authorities responded to a domestic dispute call in the 400 block of Pannes Avenue at 8:53 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived, they learned that a body may be buried in the backyard.

A young woman's body was discovered underneath a mound of freshly dug dirt in the backyard of the house. Her name has not yet been released. It's unclear how long the body was in the backyard.

Police say the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Devion Anderson, surrendered at the Compton Sheriff's Station at about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators say he admitted that he killed his girlfriend and buried her body.

Anderson is being held on $1 million bail.
