The parade made its way along Colorado Boulevard and featured 48 floral floats, 20 marching bands and 16 equestrian units.
Vin Scully, the legendary voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers, served as the grand marshal. The 85-year-old rode in the parade and tossed the coin at the start of the 100th Rose Bowl Game.
The United States Marine Corps West Coast Composite Band performed in the 2014 Rose Parade in Pasadena. This year's Rose Queen, Ana Marie Acosta, and the six young women who make up the Rose Court, also greeted crowds of parade-goers.
Visitors can get a closer look at the parade floats on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards in Pasadena. Tournament volunteers will be available to answer questions. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the event (until 3 p.m.). Pasadena police and fire departments estimated there were around 700,000 people along the 5.5-mile parade route. Keeping an eye on them were more than 1,000 uniformed and undercover police officers.
