Pomona shooting suspect found in jail after DUI arrest

POMONA, Calif.

Rialto resident Isaac Serrano, 27, was positively identified by witnesses in an incident in Pomona Saturday evening in which a man shot one woman and pistol-whipped another woman at an apartment complex on the 600 block of North Huntington Avenue.

Investigating detectives discovered Serrano was arrested for DUI on Sunday in El Monte and was still in custody.

Serrano was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon before he could be released from jail on his DUI arrest. He was held on $1 million bail. Police say Serrano is an El Monte gang member.

Serrano confronted two women at the apartment complex at about 6:27 p.m., believing they were involved in a burglary in another apartment, police said. Serrano allegedly shot a 32-year-old Pomona woman and struck a 21-year-old Pomona woman with his gun. The two women were treated for their injuries and are recovering.

Police said children were in the apartment during the altercation but were not involved.
