Placentia cat burglaries: 2 arrested for multiple break-ins

PLACENTIA, Calif.

Kyle Michael Sturms, 20, and a 17-year-old male suspect were arrested on multiple counts of residential burglary. Sturms was also arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of cocaine.

Police said the 17-year-old was arrested Monday around 3:30 p.m. after a short foot chase that ended inside a car wash in the 100 block of South Placentia Avenue. He confessed to committing several burglaries, according to police.

Investigators also served a search warrant at a home on the 500 block of El Cabrillo Saturday evening. They recovered numerous stolen items from the reported burglaries.

Authorities said the incidents took place between October and late December, and several happened while people were asleep in their homes.

Sturms confessed to approximately 11 burglaries and 10 attempted burglaries in Placentia. He also confessed to committing additional burglaries in the unincorporated area of Placentia. Those are being investigated by the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Sturms was booked at the Orange County Jail and his bail was set at $20,000.
