OTRC: Golden Globes: Amy Poehler of 'Parks and Rec' wins TV Comedy Actress

Amy Poehler of the NBC show "Parks and Recreation" has won the 2014 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical Or Comedy, marking her first win and third nomination for the show.

The winners were announced at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on Jan. 12. Poehler beat nominees Zooey Deschanel of "New Girl," Lena Dunham of "Girls," Edie Falco of "Nurse Jackie" and Julia Louis-Dreyfus of "Veep."

Poehler and Tina Fey co-hosted the Golden Globe Awards and have been friends since they met at Chicago's Improv Olympic. They also worked together as cast members and writers of "Saturday Night Live" in the early 2000s.

The documentary-style comedy series, which kicked off its sixth season in September, features Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza Jim O'Heir, Retta and Aziz Ansari as employees working in local government in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones are set to exit the series mid-way through the season.

Poehler has also appeared with Fey in the 2008 comedy "Baby Mama" and the 2004 Lindsay Lohan movie "Mean Girls." Poehler has received two Emmy nods for her roles on "Saturday Night Live" has nominated for four times for her part on "Parks and Recreation."
