Laura Linney, a 49-year-old actress known for her leading role in the Showtime series "The Big C," has given birth to her first child, a baby boy.
She and husband Marc Schauer welcomed their son on Jan. 8 and named him Bennett Armistead Schauer, People magazine reported on Friday. Linney's spokesperson confirmed the news to OTRC.com.
The actress had not spoken to the press about her pregnancy and appeared in comfortable-fitting outfits at public events. Linney and her husband wed in May 2009. She was previously married to actor David Adkins, from 1995 to 2000.
Linney is a three-time Oscar nominee (nominated for "The Savages," "Kinsey" and "You Can Count on Me") and recently starred in the 2013 movie "The Fifth Estate," with Benedict Cumberbatch. "The Big C," which saw her play a terminal cancer patient, ended in May after four seasons.
