A malfunctioning emergency sprinkler system likely caused the flooding on three floors of St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach Sunday, prompting an emergency response by firefighters.

Crews responded to the 1000 block of Linden Avenue after the sixth floor of the hospital flooded. The water flowed down to the fifth and fourth floor.

Emergency crews responded and turned off the water. Clean up was underway.

Hospital officials say no patients were put in danger.
