Elizabeth Banks is set to have an "aca-awesome" directorial debut.

The actress has been announced as the director of "Pitch Perfect 2," the sequel to the highly successful 2012 musical comedy movie. This will mark Banks' first time directing a feature film. No casting announcements have been made as of press time.

Banks, who also stars in "The Hunger Games" films, co-starred and produced the first "Pitch Perfect" movie and is expected to return on screen in the same capacity, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Banks played Gail Abernathy-McKadden, a co-commentator for the ICCAs, a prestigious a capella competition that is featured predominantly in the film.

"Elizabeth originated the idea for 'Pitch Perfect' and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success," Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley said in a statement. "She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on 'Pitch Perfect 2.'"

"Pitch Perfect" premiered in September 2012, starring the likes of Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Adam Devine. The film followed the lives of college students in battling a capella groups (the Barden Bellas and the Treblemakers), all vying for the championship title in the national ICCAs competition.

The film, a box office success that made more than $113 million worldwide, also spawned a hit soundtrack, featuring a capella versions of popular songs as well as the track "Cups," which was performed by Kendrick. The song reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
