Pharrell Williams will perform on stage at the 2014 Oscars, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The event takes place on March 2 is will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres. Williams, 40, is the first confirmed performer. He will sing his Oscar-nominated song "Happy," from the soundtrack of the animated movie "Despicable Me 2." (Watch the music video for "Happy.")

The singer wrote and produced the track, which is competing with three others in the best Original Song category -- "Let It Go" from Disney's "Frozen," "The Moon Song" from "Her," U2's "Ordinary Love" from "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom." This marks Williams' first Oscar nomination. (Check out a full list of 2014 Oscar nominations).
